Taking part in any sport at a competitive level involves a great deal of physical control and mental concentration. It is now accepted that hypnosis can provide both of these.
Often our behaviour patterns and negative thought processes hold us back. What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is the bringing together of the conscious and subconscious minds in a trance state. It is a safe, powerful technique creating a deeply relaxed state of the body, mind and emotions. It is also a perfectly natural state that we are often in during our everyday lives i.e whilst reading a book, watching television, or doing repeated tasks.
The therapist guides you into a relaxed trance state by the sound of their voice. It is not sleep.
Is it safe?
No-one can be hypnotised against their will and even when in trance people can still reject any of the suggestions given if they are not appropriate.
How does it work?
Our subconscious mind does not differentiate between imagination and actuality. This has tremendous implications for sportsman who does not have the time or stamina to physically practise sufficiently to continue increasing his skills. It is now fully understood that mental rehearsal is as improving as physical practise, the muscles “remember” the action in exactly the same way. If two teams are equal in terms of skill then it will be the difference in their mental preparation that will determine the outcome. Hypnosis can lower psychological barriers that interfere with performance and enjoyment of your sport or event.
